Message from the Principal
Welcome to Highlands Middle School 2020 - 2021
We are excited that our school year will resume on Thursday, August 20th! Instruction will be delivered through a variety of means including in-person, live-streamed using Zoom, Schoology, and Google Docs. We realize things will be quite different this year, however, we are looking forward to another successful year socially, emotionally, and academically.
Let’s work together, remain optimistic during these challenging times, and help our students develop coping skills, self-discipline, and how to stay positive during difficult times. It is important that you take time to explain to your child the changes to expect when school starts. Even if your child will attend school in-person, it is important to discuss his/her schedule, how classes will not rotate, a classroom will consist of 7-9 students, and the importance of following his/her schedule while at school or at home.
Take the time with your child to reflect and appreciate how much his/her teachers care for them and how lucky he/she is to be part of Highlands Middle School.
“This is a time our students must learn that they are responsible for their learning. It is time to develop and strengthen their self-discipline skills. “Self-discipline appears in various forms, such as perseverance, restraint, endurance, thinking before acting, finishing what you start doing, and as the ability to carry out one’s decisions and plans, despite inconvenience, hardships or obstacles.” ~Remez Sasson
Finally, we ask for your continued support and patience as we navigate these uncharted waters.
Mr. Mike Papierski
